A hundred cases of hepatolenticular degeneration: The Croatian experience M Relja P0942
In this large series of patients with Wilson disease, mean age at symptom onset was 24.9 years (SD 10.7), and age at diagnosis was 29.4 years (SD 11.2). Neurologic symptoms were present at diagnosis in 95% of patients, with hepatic dysfunction in 35%. Tremor was seen in 72%, dysarthria in 38%, rigidity in 35%, and emotional lability or psychosis in 38%. Kayser-Fleischer rings were present in only 66% of patients, and 37% had normal ceruloplasmin. Family history was negative in 58%. Eighty percent of patients were treated with penicillamine.
